The importance of impact assessment in learning experiences - Moontrail launch at the VOV Lerend Netwerk fair

Have you ever wondered what impact assessment is and why it is import in developing learning experiences?

Impact assessment helps to develop individualised learning experiences that, in turn, engage learners and motivates them throughout the learning process, by also providing proper guidance to the ‘instructor’.

Measuring impact is primarily about identifying and evaluating behavioural change. When we measure the change, we focus on the ways in which individuals, teams, organisations and broader communities have changed behaviour by the respective learning experience. These could be both short- and long-term outcomes of each programme.

With this in mind, our LAUREA team participated in the VOV Lerend Netwerk fair in Mechelen on April 28. Through networking activities and a presentation, Stefaan De Corte, Director of LAUREA, demonstrated the importance of impact assessment in developing learning experiences not only for individuals but also for broader communities.

Most importantly, our team launched Moontrail, our learning management software solution that engages learners and measures the impact of their professional learning experiences in a secure and centralised environment. Moontrail also acts as an authoring tool, allowing anyone to create learning materials.

Moontrail’s impact assessment is based on Moore's seven-stage outcomes model for learning, as well as on specific principles that aim to 1) engage and influence learners, taking into account their prior experience and knowledge, 2) cause a change in learning and behaviour, and 3) demonstrate tangible and community improvements.

In addition, the features align with the pillars below that allow anyone to easily create content and learning paths in a way that engages learners, measures the quality of learning, and manages the entire learning process.
